    The Tomblets™ Ordering Process

    You have two options:-

    Order via a Supplier

Click on the Supplier button and select one near to you. Every supplier has order forms and a sample Tomblets™ plaque for you to see and hold and will be able to advise you and help with your order.

If there is no Supplier registered near to you, please either ask your local Funeral Directors or Memorial Masons to contact us on your behalf OR...

    Order Direct from us

As photo plaques are such a personal item and each one is made specifically to order, we use the old fashioned methods of the telephone and the post plus, of course, email.

You are welcome to contact us without obligation in the first instance; to send through a photograph to see if it is suitable; or enquire about an inscription.

To order, simply print out and complete our ORDER FORM and either email it to us or print it out and post it with your photograph. If you don't have access to a printer, please call us and we will post a form out to you.

    The Photograph

Please supply the COMPLETE ORIGINAL photograph. We can work from a negative, a photographic print or a digital image (supplied either on CD or as an email attachment). We shall take a digital copy of the photograph and return the original to you. If this is the only copy of the photo and you are concerned about its safety in the post, please send it by Royal Mail Special Delivery and we will return it the same way. Alternatively, take it into a professional photographers and have it scanned onto a CD and send us that instead.

Please DO NOT supply prints from home digital printers (they are printed with regular lines of very fine dots, which get considerably enhanced during processing, giving a pin-stripe effect which spoils the engraving). And please do not crop the photo either. If there is an unsuitable background or other people in the photo, we will deal with that. If you have particular requirements, please feel free to supply a photocopy or digital print to demonstrate these... but this must be in addition to the original photograph.

We remove the occasional small scratch or mark from the photograph as a matter of course and without charge. If the photograph has any more substantial damage that needs repairing (multiple scratches, or folds or stains, for example) we can do this for a simple repair charge (the current, 2016 price for this is the same as the silhouette option, £30.95). If the background is not suitable we can, at your request, remove this altogether and engrave the image without any background, or we can remove and replace the background with a plain vignette (a light background faded away as an oval all around the head and shoulders). The charge for this is the same as for a repair. If part of the image is missing (the top of the head has been slightly clipped, for example) or if the photo needs alteration (a flower removing from in front of the face, for example), we can usually do this as well for, again, the same simple charge. N.B. if, say, both a repair and a background removal are required, this would incur two charges.

What we cannot do, however, is enlarge a very small and indistinct photograph into a sharp and well defined engraving. Blurred photo = blurred engraving. The enhancement processes seen in science fiction films, where a tiny, distant and blurred image is enlarged up so that you can see the logo on the belt buckle are, we're afraid, simply fiction. If this particular photo is the only one that exists, we will do our very best for you... but we will always warn you in advance and will seek an alternative if at all possible.

To protect the photo from bending, cut a piece of card just very slightly smaller than your envelope, so that it fills it from corner to corner. Wrap a sheet of clean white paper around the photo. If there is more than one photo, wrap each one individually.

PLEASE DO NOT USE PAPER CLIPS as these can damage an original photo beyond repair.

If the image you would like on the plaque is not a photo - say a drawing or painting instead - the same comments apply as above for a photo.

    Photograph Copyright Statement

In submitting any order you are confirming your consent to the use of the image you have provided, or other necessary image, for the process of engraving it into stone and you also confirm that you either (i) have the consent of the person that owns the copyright in the image or (ii) are capable of giving that consent yourself. There is a box on the order form for you to sign to confirm that.

N.B. If the photograph you intend using was taken by a professional photographer, the photographer may well still own the copyright, even though the photograph has long since been paid for. A telephone call to them is all that is usually required to get their permission to use it.
